Practice Team

Dr Andrew Mellor (3069530)

Partner in the practice since 1989, a GP trainer since 1997. Medical interest include asthma, COPD and migraine. Led in the introduction of the End-of-Life Pathway for the Barnsley area. Involved in the Out-of-Hours service, the Supportive Care Group and commissioning.

Personal interests include music, playing guitar (but not giving up the day job), reading, exercise and involvement with church.

Dr Heather J. Smith (3465648)

I qualified as a doctor from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1990 and then undertook my GP training in Barnsley in the early 90s. I have been a Partner at the practice since 2001.

My interests within the practice include Women's Health and Diabetes. I also fit coils and implants for contraception. I (along with Dr Mellor) am a GP trainer and so help with the training of doctors to become GPs. This is why we usually have one or two GP Registrars in the practice who generally stay with us for 6 months to a year.

My other main interest at the moment seems to be driving my children from one place to another - but this is getting better as they get older!

Dr Aitor Santiago-Martin LMS MRCS MRCGP DFFP MSOM (4243070)

I qualified in Medicine and Surgery in June 1995 by the University of the Basque Country, Biscay, Basque Country and worked as a hospital junior doctor for 6 years, living in Darfield for most of that time. I trained as a GP in the Sheffield Training Scheme between 2002 and 2005 and have been working for the practice ever since.

I am a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2000) and a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (2005). My interests are minor operations, musculoskeletal medicine and mental health.

Dr Caroline Hollis (4717786)

I qualified from Sheffield University Medical School and joined the practice as a salaried GP in August 2005, becoming a partner in 2014. My clinical interests include Dermatology and Women's Health.

Dr Richard Dachtler (7039802)

I qualified from Sheffield medical school in 2009 going on to do my post graduate training at the Sheffield teaching hospitals and Doncaster hospital.

I undertook my GP training in the Doncaster area, working at a number of practices. On becoming a GP I joined Dr Mellor & Partners in 2014 after moving to Rotherham. I am a member of the Royal College of GP's.

My special interests include child health and joint injections. I have a keen interest in teaching and am planning on being involved with the teaching of new GPs.

Outside of work I enjoy mountain biking, photography and dining out. I am regularly off out finding new mountain bike trails in the woods and have a habit of falling off and limping home.

Dr James Holloway 2010 MB ChB MRCGP (7072745)

Dr Holloway qualified from Sheffield Medical School and joined the practice in 2016.

Dr Maria Wrest BSc (Hons) MBBS MRCGP (6167076)

I qualified from Newcastle University Medical School in 2009 and joined the practice as a salaried GP in August 2016, having completed my GP training in Doncaster. My special interests include Women's and Children's Health, Dermatology and Mental Health problems.

Outside of work I'm mum to a toddler and spend most of my time entertaining and chasing after him, but when I get chance I like to go to live music events, eat out and take nature walks with my little one!

Kay Bennett

I have been qualified as a Registered General Nurse since 1986. I worked on plastic surgery and urology for 5 years and then became a District Nurse for a further 4 years. I have been a Practice Nurse since 1996 and started work with Dr Mellor & Partners in 2004.

Sue Fellows

I qualified as a Nurse in 1995 and have had experience in medicine, community nursing and A&E before moving into Practice Nursing. I started work with Dr Mellor & Partners in 2004 and enjoy providing a service to our patients.

Jane Firth

Rachel Richardson - Practice Manager

I joined the practice in September 1996 as Reception Supervisor at the Old Health Centre in Darfield. My role has constantly changed over the years and I am now responsible for the day to day management of the practice.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children.

Donna Brook - Reception Manager

I joined the practice in September 2006 as a Receptionist, working my way up to Supervisor in 2009. I began my current role in August 2009. I work closely with our Health Care Team to ensure we deliver the best possible service to our patients as well as managing the Reception Team.
